With 52 hours of playback, multipoint connection, and in-ear detection—similar to premium earbuds from Sony and Apple—all for just $89. Design and Build Quality

EarFun Air Pro 4 Design and Build Quality

When it comes to case design, the Air Pro 4 shows significant improvements over the bulky Air Pro 3 case. The new design is slimmer and lighter, providing a more comfortable feel. My review unit is black, though it is also available in white. Despite being made of plastic, the case feels premium and doesn’t cache dust easily. The front features three LED lights indicating battery status, with the EarFun logo on top. Inside the case, each earbud dock has its own LED light to show the connection status.

EarFun Air Pro 4 Earbuds design and build

When it comes to design, these new buds don’t show many changes from the Air Pro 3. They look similar but are slightly lighter and smaller. Both buds feature EarFun branding, and the touch-sensitive round ring no longer includes the ring light from the Air Pro 3, possibly to improve battery life. The build quality is premium, with IPX5 water resistance, ensuring problem free from sweat without any issues.

I’ve been using it for the past week and found them very comfortable. They fit well in my ears, and even after long hours of use, I didn’t experience any discomfort or itching.

Connection

Connecting these buds to your phone is simple: just open the case, turn on Bluetooth on your phone, and select EarFun Air Pro 4. The setup is complete in seconds. Featuring Bluetooth 5.4 and Google Fast Pair, connecting is quick and easy. The earbuds also support AuraCast and LE Audio, though there are currently issues with devices like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series and Google Pixel 8 Series.

The earbuds offer multipoint connection, allowing you to connect two devices at once, such as a phone and a tablet or laptop. In my tests, the multipoint connection worked well. I connected my Android device and laptop, and the earbuds seamlessly switched between playing music on my phone and audio from videos on my laptop. This feature is particularly useful for multitasking. However, note that with multipoint connection, you can’t enjoy LDAC sound quality, but Qualcomm aptX audio is available. Overall, the multipoint connection has been highly beneficial, allowing me to switch devices without hassle.

Audio Quality

The Air Pro 4 features 10mm composite drivers, supports LDAC with Hi-res audio, and Qualcomm aptX Sound, providing a lossless connection and superior HD audio experience. After a week of testing, I’ve found the audio to be clear, crisp, and loud without any distortion. The bass is particularly impressive for genres like EDM and DJ tracks. However, using multi-device connections disables LDAC audio, as explained in detail above.

Overall, the audio quality is comparable to premium earbuds from Sony WF-1000XM4, Pixel Buds Pro, and Huawei FreeBuds 4, and it’s hard to notice much difference from AirPods, all at just $89.

Mic Call Quality

The Air Pro 4 features 6 microphones with cVc™ 8.0 ENC technology and an AI algorithm for clear calls. In my tests, it provided an impressive, clear, and loud call experience.

Active Noise Cancelling

EarFun Air Pro 4 in-app Active Noise cancellation options

EarFun’s new budget wireless earbuds feature Qualcomm®’s latest Adaptive Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation, capable of reducing noise by up to 50dB with QuietSmart™ 3.0. The app offers Normal, Ambient, and Noise Cancelling modes, with five different ANC options: Strong ANC, Balance ANC, AI Environment Adaptive ANC, AI Ear Adaptive ANC, and Wind Noise Cancellation. I tested these in my office which is a transport and where workers loading packages in the trucks and making to many noise, but the Strong ANC effectively minimized background noise, even at low volumes. The different ANC levels adapt well to various environments, ensuring a quiet listening experience.

Earfun Audio App and Features

EarFun Air Pro 4 Support and features

We have Earfun Audio app support, which you can download from the Play Store. In the app, you can see each buds and case battery status, and then you have ANC options and game mode, which can turn smooth gaming with up to 55 ms ultra-low latency.

And then we have the most important feature that we don’t get in budget-priced earbuds: in-ear detection. It detects the buds, whether they’re plugged in your ear or not. When you remove the buds, it automatically pauses the sound, and then when you plug them back in, the audio starts playing automatically. We have EarFun Equalizer. In Equalizer,  you have many different presets, from rock, pop, and country to bass boost and treble boost, and you can also set your own custom Equalizer profile and a new custom sound profile.

Then we have touch controls option which you can do custom setup as you like, dual device connection, and Bluetooth audio quality, where you can select LDAC, Qualcomm aptX, or even a stable connection option. Then you have the option to select a microphone, whether automatic or manual, Voice Prompt Setting, LE Audio, and find headphones and versions to download, or even a factory reset option if anything goes wrong. Overall, the Earfun Audio app provides all the necessary features that we need.

Battery Life

On the Earfun Air Pro 4 claims 11 hours of buds playback and with case 41 hours total 55 hours of playtime. I tested it from 100% to 70% gives 3 hours to playback with Anc off and with ANC the performance get decreases around 25 minutes. So as they can claim almost we get it. you can charge the buds by using USB-c port and it also features wireless charging. Overall the battery playback time is good and gives as they claim.

Conclusion

The EarFun Air Pro 4 gives value at $89, offering Google fast pair, LDAC and Qualcomm aptX support for high-resolution audio providing crisp, clear sound, and up to 50dB adaptive hybrid ANC with multiple modes. Its dual-device connection and in-ear detection features enhance convenience, while the battery life provides up to 11 hours of playback per charge and 41 hours with the case. The EarFun Audio app adds versatility with customizable equalizer settings, touch controls, and ANC options. Overall, the Air Pro 4 offers premium-like features and performance at a budget-friendly price, making it a strong competitor against higher-priced models like the Huawei FreeBuds 4 and Pixel Buds Pro.
