I’ve been using LG 45-inch ultrawide gaming monitor for about a month now, and it’s been a huge upgrade to my PC gaming setup. It’s called the LG 45GR95QE, a bit of a mouthful. LG 45GR95QE monitor has an OLED panel and a super fast 240Hz refresh rate, making it the first of its kind from LG. Plus, it’s got a 800R curve which might sound wild but trust me, it’s amazing for gaming.
Specs
So, LG 45GR95QE UltraGear gaming monitor is a big 45-inch screen that’s really wide and uses a type of display called OLED, which gives it great colors and sharpness. It’s got a widescreen shape with a ratio of 21:9, meaning it’s wider than a regular screen. The best part? It’s huge, which I personally love. It’s not flat like most screens; it’s curved, which helps make everything look more immersive. The picture quality is top-notch too with a resolution of 3440×1440.
It’s pretty steep which might sound intense, but it actually helps make the viewing experience better in a lot of ways. It’s super bright reaching up to 1000 nits, which means it supports a feature called HDR that makes colors look even more vibrant. And get this it responds incredibly fast in just 0.03 milliseconds, That’s lightning quick especially for gaming.
I’ve got it connected to my MSI Trident X gaming PC 2019, which is while not the latest and greatest but still holds its own. It’s got an RTX 2070 graphics card, an i7 9700K processor, and 16GB RAM. Sure, it could use an upgrade but it handles everything I throw at it at this high resolution and with fast refresh rates like a champ.
800r Curve
The 800R curve first as you might be curious about it. Yes, it’s quite a sharp curve but after gaming on this monitor for a month, I can say I wouldn’t want it any less curved especially on a big 45-inch screen.
LG 45GR95QE UltraGear monitor is designed specifically for gaming and it’s geared towards enhancing the gaming experience. When you’re gaming especially on a screen wider than 34 inches, you end up constantly turning your neck to see things like minimaps or kill feeds that are close to the edge of the display. Unlike with work tasks, where occasional head turns are fine, gaming requires more consistent attention.
You want to be able to see everything without having to turn your head too much, maybe just a quick glance. The 800R curve ensures that everything remains visible at all times, even on such a large screen. Personally, I spend a lot of time playing competitive Overwatch on PC, and if this monitor didn’t have such a sharp curve my performance would suffer. In short, the 800R curve not only makes this monitor usable but actually enhances the gaming experience, despite its large size and curved shape.

Color
You won’t notice any difference in color from one edge of the screen to the other, no matter where you sit. Speaking of colors, once you’ve experienced gaming on this OLED display for a month, it’s tough to switch back to a non-OLED one. Normally, I’d switch between my LG C2 OLED and another display for PC gaming, but once you’ve seen how great OLED looks, it’s hard to go back. It’s not easy to explain this in a YouTube video, but let me give you an example: I did a quick comparison between my TCL r646, which is LED, and my LG C2 OLED.
In the comparison, you can easily see the difference in deep blacks and vibrant colors. It’s an amazing experience, especially for gaming. Games like Red Dead Redemption 2, even though it’s not a new release, look incredible with the wide range of colors and contrasts, especially in scenes like this. Games like this, or Cyberpunk, really highlight the advantages of HDR. I have no complaints; it looks absolutely stunning.
Gaming and Performance
I don’t play as many racing games as I used to, but playing Forza Horizon on this monitor feels like a budget racing simulator setup. I know there’s a lot more to a proper racing simulator, and some might not agree with my setup or even mentioning it, but it works well for someone like me who’s just getting started.
The curved screen provides a wide field of view, perfect for checking mirrors and everything else while racing. I might get a steering wheel eventually, but for now, I’m happy using my PlayStation 5 controller. While I’m not a hardcore racing fan, I can see how beneficial a widescreen monitor like this would be for serious enthusiasts. Instead of seeing things like this, they’ll see them like this. I’ve mounted this monitor on a sturdy arm, which makes it easy to adjust and get a better angle for racing. All I need now is that steering wheel, and I’ll be ready to go.
But aside from racing, where I really get the most out of this monitor is in first-person shooters. In my last video, I talked about how I was aiming to reach Masters in Overwatch on this monitor, and believe it or not, I actually made it. So I guess I’m not as bad at the game as I thought. Thanks, LG Seriously though I can confidently say that I’ve performed better on this display than on any other monitor I’ve used before. I know that for FPS games, a 16:9 aspect ratio is usually preferred, but this is what I’ve got and it’s been working great for me.
Again, let’s talk about that 800R curve. In FPS games, every split-second matters, and being able to quickly glance at the kill feed or my resources is crucial. I don’t have to turn my head or anything to see everything, and it’s just nicer to have a bigger OLED display like this without resorting to using a TV. Honestly, without that 800R curve, playing on a screen this wide would be really tough. From a competitive standpoint having a 240Hz refresh rate and a response time of just 0.03 milliseconds is absolutely amazing, and I’m sure it’s one of the reasons I was able to climb the ranks in competitive play.
Sometimes, I like to unwind and play a game like Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s incredible how amazing older games like this, or newer ones like Cyberpunk, look even at the high resolution of 3440 by 1440 pixels. Playing games like this, especially in a wide 21×9 aspect ratio, feels really immersive. In my last video, I got a lot of comments asking about my setup and system specs. Again, it’s just my RTX 2070 graphics card and an i7 processor. It’s not a top-of-the-line setup by any means so this display is doing a lot of work to make everything look great. I’m really excited for Hogwarts Legacy, which comes out next week. I’m thinking about getting it on PC instead of console because I’ve been enjoying open-world games a lot, especially on this curved display.
Burn In
After using the monitor for a month, there are absolutely no signs of burning. It’s more of a concern on a PC than on a TV, especially with the static elements like desktop icons. But LG 45GR95QE UltraGear OLED monitor has a lot of features to prevent it which seem to be working well
These features are pretty seamless. If the display doesn’t detect any movement for a while, it will turn off by itself, which is handy, especially if you’re away for a bit. And if it’s left unused for longer periods, when I come back to it, it usually says that pixel cleaning has been done, which is great. If you prefer, you can manually clear it yourself in the menu when it’s not in use, although I haven’t needed to do this yet.
Is it Worth it?
So, After a month, how’s the LG 45GR95QE UltraGear OLED monitor overall? Well, it’s probably the best one I’ve ever used. I’ve really put it through its paces with gaming, not just random testing for reviews. With its fast response time vibrant OLED colors, and high 240Hz refresh rate, it’s a fantastic choice for all kinds of gamers whether you’re into racing, open-world adventures, or first-person shooters, It’s got you covered.
And if you’re not a fan of the wide 21×9 aspect ratio, there’s a 27-inch version of this model that still has the OLED panel, response time, and refresh rate. As for me I’ll be looking for ways to enhance my DIY racing sim setup but until then, LG 45GR95QE UltraGear OLED monitor will definitely do the job.
