5. Sony X90J
You might want to consider the Sony X90T if you are interested in a high-end OLED screen and have a large budget. It has excellent image quality, in part thanks to a near-cognitive XR processor rolled out to Sony’s top 2021 sets, which provides excellent upscaling and contrast control. So, the QD OLED panels televised exceptionally bright and colorful images. With this TV, you can upscale HD to 4K, and it offers class-leading HDR performance as well. On the subject of HDR, Samsung supports all the major standards except Dolby Vision, making it great for upscaling HD content to 4K.
Samsung has done a decent job with the Tizen software, but we feel the design of the menus has slipped this year. This TV is not only stunning to look at, but it also sounds great, thanks to Object Tracking Sound Plus, which delivers positional audio that seems to come from where the action is taking place on screen. With its minimalist but elegant design, solid metal stand, and nearly bezel-less screen, this is another one of Samsung’s industrial design marvels. 1. LG C2 OLED
LG C2 OLED has reclaimed the top spot on our list of the best TVs in 2022 for the first time since 2021, thanks to improvements LG made to this year’s model over last year’s. The new Alpha A9 Gen 5 processor for 2022 offers better object enhancement and dynamic tone mapping than its predecessor. Additionally, the TV offers virtual surround sound and can upscale stereo content to 7.1.2 channels. While we weren’t convinced by the claims of virtual surround sound, the sound performance is good for a flat screen TV, and there are several audio profiles you can choose from. The Cedar OLED also carries forward the four HDMI 2.1 ports from the C1 OLED, making it the perfect companion for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. However, the LG C2 Review isn’t without flaws, as off-access color saturation does diminish when you move to the left or right of the screen, and the TV does not support either IMAX enhanced or HDR 10 plus.
