The Lenovo Tab Extreme is a 14.5-inch Android tablet features the Precision Pen stylus and an optional keyboard dock. it’s promises to offer an exceptional multitasking experience from 2023.
Design and Build
The Lenovo Tab Extreme has 14.5-inch display making it one of the larger tablets on the market, weighing 740 grams. it’s not the lightest tablet suggesting it’s more suited for stationary use on a desk or table rather than prolonged handheld usage. Despite its size and weight the tablet boasts a sleek and modern design with thin bezels surrounding the screen.
The glass strip at the top and a recycled aluminum frame adds a touch of elegance to its overall aesthetic. While the aluminum frame is resilient against scratches and oil, the glass strip may attract fingerprints and smudges over time. Additionally, users have the option to purchase a protective cover separately which not only prevents scratches but also doubles as a stand for the tablet. And the storm grey variant of the Lenovo Tab Extreme exudes a sophisticated look enhancing its overall appeal.
The Tab Extreme provides users with multiple options: features a built-in fingerprint sensor embedded within the power button allowing for quick and secure unlocking. While it might require a few attempts to register a fingerprint initially, once set up properly, it operates efficiently.
Alongside the fingerprint sensor, also supports face unlock as an additional authentication method. Although face unlock may occasionally take a few seconds to recognize and authenticate, but it serves as a reliable alternative for unlocking the tablet.

ZUI and Features
The Tab Extreme tablet runs on Android 13 with Lenovo’s customized user interface, called ZUI, on top. Despite the customizations, the user interface maintains a stock Android feel. One notable addition is the entertainment space which replaces the Google Discover feed when held horizontally.
ZUI also includes features optimized for the large display enhancing the overall user experience. Lenovo promises three major operating system upgrades and four years of security updates ensuring the tablet remains up-to-date for an extended period. Connectivity-wise, the tablet supports Wi-Fi 6E and optional 5G for faster and more reliable internet access.
Display and Audio
It has massive 14.5-inch LED display with a resolution of 3000 by 1876 pixels the visuals are incredibly crisp and vibrant. With Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support making it perfect for both entertainment and productivity. The contrast is impressive although the glossy surface may cause some glare when used outdoors.
Additionally, supports up to 120Hz refresh rate ensuring smooth navigation and fluid UI interactions. While some users initially experienced screen responsiveness issues, a recent update has addressed these concerns, resulting in a more seamless user experience.
The Lenovo Tab Extreme’s size makes it ideal for multitasking supporting up to four apps running simultaneously in split-screen mode. Setting up split-screen is straightforward, and you can easily rearrange windows to your preference. However, not all apps are fully optimized for this mode, leading to some smoothness issues.
Lenovo recently added support for popular apps like YouTube and Google Drive improving productivity. Additionally it supports floating windows allowing up to 10 windows open simultaneously. However, running multiple apps side by side may cause occasional slowdowns, which Lenovo is addressing through future updates for a better multitasking experience.
However, there are a minor complaints. Firstly, when the Lenovo Tab Extreme is in landscape mode, which is typically used for watching videos, the volume rocker’s functionality is reversed. Pressing the left volume button increases the volume, while the right button decreases it, which is trouble. It would have made more sense to flip the controls when in landscape mode, as it works well in portrait mode when volume adjustment is less frequent. Secondly, the tablet lacks a headphone jack. However, the Bluetooth 5.3 wireless streaming works flawlessly, allowing you to enjoy audio wirelessly. Additionally, it can serve as a secondary display for other devices by connecting them to the USB 2.0 port at the bottom, which is DisplayPort compatible. It also supports output to another display using the middle USB 3.2 connection.
It Features 8 JBL speakers providing an immersive audio experience with crystal-clear sound quality even at maximum volume levels. With Dolby Atmos support the tablet offers rich and immersive audio delivering plenty of depth and clarity.
Precision Pen 3
You have option to purchase it with the Precision Pen stylus, which conveniently tucks into a small curve on the back of the folio cover. While it may not provide the same natural feel as some competitors but it offers a responsive experience. The stylus can also function as a remote control for the tablet which is useful for business professionals giving presentations or navigating slideshows. Additionally, it has an anti-loss prevention alarm that notifies you on the tablet if you leave the pen behind. The folio cover serves as a storage solution for the pen ensuring it’s always ready for use and conveniently charging it up when stored.
Keyboard Dock
The optional keyboard accessory for the Tab Extreme is easy to use—simply attach the tablet, and you’ll hear a confirmation sound indicating they’ve paired up. The tablet sits slightly elevated above the keyboard, providing a comfortable typing position. While you can adjust the angle to some extent, it doesn’t offer much flexibility beyond that, making it less ideal for use on your lap and better suited for placement on a desk or table.
The keyboard itself is spacious akin to many laptop keyboards making a comfortable and speedy typing experience. Although the key travel is somewhat shallow for a keyboard cover, touch typing remains enjoyable. However, there are a few minor complaints, such as the presence of a single row Enter key, which may take some getting used to. Additionally, the touchpad is relatively small, but given the tablet’s touchscreen capability, this isn’t a major concern.
Cameras
If you frequently engage in video chats, you’ll appreciate the tablet’s front-facing camera, which boasts a 13-megapixel sensor located in the small top bezel. Despite its compact size it offers a wide view and angle allowing you to fit a lot into the frame. The front camera can record videos in up to 4K resolution a sufficient quality for video conferencing on platforms like Microsoft Teams and Skype. It performs well in HDR-style situations making clear and vibrant visuals even in front of a bright window.
On the back, there’s a dual-lens rear camera setup. The main shooter features a 13-megapixel sensor, while there’s also a basic ultra-wide-angle lens. However, using tablets for everyday photography and videography is not recommended. Tablets are not the most convenient or ergonomic devices for capturing media, and it makes even less sense with a tablet as large as the Lenovo Tab Extreme due to its dimensions. While the tablet does offer rear camera capabilities, it’s advisable to use a dedicated camera or smartphone for capturing everyday moments.
Battery life
The Lenovo Tab Extreme boasts a large 12,300mAh capacity battery delivering impressive longevity that can be measured in days rather than hours. With mixed use you can expect approximately 15 to 20 hours of battery life depending on their activities. Which means the Tab Extreme can easily last a couple of days before requiring a recharge, surpassing the endurance of most laptops and other tablets. Despite its substantial battery size. it recharges quickly with the included 68-watt power adapter ensuring users can quickly get back to action.
Final Thought
Lenovo Tab Extreme is an impressive tablet particularly for multitasking, whether you’re focused on productivity or entertainment that its stunning display delivers. The added flexibility of the stylus and keyboard dock enhances the user experience with remarkable battery life providing long hours of usage. While there are a few issues that could be improved, I’m confident Lenovo will address them promptly.
The Lenovo Tab Extreme impresses with its large 14.5-inch display and exceptional multitasking capabilities.
